Xavier Hufkens, a Belgian art gallery has announced a new exhibit coming from renowned artist Tracey Emin called “Detail of Love”. The piece will show, (as most of her artwork does) a visual description of herself. The piece does this by means of using gauches, large-scale paintings and new neon work.
The on paper works produced by Emin that are featured in the exhibit see Emin discuss the ideas of unconditional love and seeing the world as a refuge for catharsis. In addition, many of the canvas pieces in the exhibit feature common themes explored by Emin, such as sex, desire, passion, unconditional love and the search for meaning.
Every piece contained in Emin’s new exhibition focuses on the many different characteristics of love. It makes references to Emin’s late mother as well as cat Docket that presents a different perspective towards other pieces. Emin said about this new piece, “All these tiny details and thousands more are details of love. It’s what makes us who we are.” That being said, the title “Detail of Love” would not simply be about love as experienced by the artist, but who it makes the average human being into, resulting from the experience thereof.
“Detail of Love” will open on October 30 and will run until December 19, at both of the Xavier Hufkens galleries in Brussels.
