According to Video Game Holding Company Square Enix, the “basic development and scenario production” of Final Fantasy 16 is completed. It is reported by GamesTalk that Square Enix is searching for final staff members to join the project. The report was translated by Gematsu as saying: “We have already completed basic development and scenario production, and are continuing to create large-scale resources and build boss battles while expanding our various development tools.”
The recruitment page mentioned by GamesTalk as asking for developers/designers that specialize in “large scale” cut scenes, level design as well as character actions. Even though the “Basic development’ is completed the game isn’t quite done yet. It was reported by IGN that any and all implications of a PC release of Final Fantasy 16 were scrapped in favor of majority PS5 acknowledgments.
Taking place in a medieval fantasy world, the game is being produced by the man behind the Final Fantasy 14 re-master, Naoki Yoshida. FF16 has no set release date, but according to IGN more information will be offered in 2021.
