With its 75th anniversary coming up, Mattel has launched a new platform called: “Mattel Creations” which showcases the most popular and beloved toys from over its long history. Mattel has also partnered with four emerging artists to redesign some of it’s most iconic toys such as Skeletor from “Masters Of The Universe”, The Magic 8 Ball, Barbie and the Hot Wheels Bone Shaker (released as an art print).
The artists designing the redesigns are: Gianni Lee, Distortedd, Cristina Martinez and animator Travis Ragsdale respctively. The art prints will cost $75 for regular prints and $150 for a signed print. Patent prints of the aforementioned toys, as classic screen prints or limited edition foil. They will also be available costing $75 for the classic and $150 for the limited edition foil.
Mattel is also including a limited edition collection of toys, called “The Art Of Engineering”. According to Mattel it will provide “a clear look at what goes into making some of Mattel’s most iconic toys.”
Mattel Creations has also collaborated wit ProjectArt in order to bring after-school art classes, available to students from low-income areas.
