On Thursday, it was confirmed by the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office that Canadian rapper Tory Lanez is facing almost 23 years in prison on a felony assault charge against Megan Thee Stallion. Less than 2 months ago Megan had accused Lanez of shooting her in the foot in a public altercation in the Hollywood Hills.
The statement released by the LADA’s office went as follows:
“The rap artist known as Tory Lanez has been charged with assaulting a female friend in the Hollywood Hills earlier this year, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced today.
Daystar Peterson aka Tory Lanez (dob 7/27/92) was charged today in case BA490599 with one felony count each of assault with a semiautomatic firearm – personal use of a firearm – and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle. The defendant also faces a gun allegation and that he personally inflicted great bodily injury.”
After hearing yelling, followed by the sound of gunshots on July 12 of this year, the police were called and they arrested Lanez outside a private Hollywood Hills residence. A search done of an SUV with Megan, Lanez and 2 other people on the inside, revealed possession of a firearm being kept in the vehicle. It was revealed that the people yelling, mentioned by witnesses were in fact Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion (Real name Megan Pete).
It was stated via a video on social media by Megan: “Yes, this n***a Tory shot me. You shot me, and you got your publicist and your people going to these blogs, lying and shit, Stop lying. Why lie? I don’t understand. I tried to keep the situation off the internet, but you’re dragging it.”
If convicted of the felony assault charge, Tory Lanez will face 22years and 8 months of prison time.
