The massive disappointment that was 2011’s Green Lantern movie may have fans skeptical of seeing another appearance from the lantern-themed superhero on screen again. Though this isn’t stopping HBO Max from giving a 10-episode request to screenwriters Seth Grahame-Smith and Mark Guggenheim.
The series according to HBO Max the series: “will depict the adventures of a multitude of Lanterns,” though the announcement makes no reference to famous Green Lanterns, Hal Jordan and John Stewart. The green lanterns listed in the official statement from HBO Max will primarily be humans. HBO’s statement is as follows:
“From HBO Max, DC, Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television comes a bold adaptation of the iconic comic book franchise, a saga spanning decades and galaxies. GREEN LANTERN will depict the adventures of a multitude of Lanterns, including Guy Gardner, Jessica Cruz, Simon Baz and Alan Scott — Earth’s first Green Lantern, who, true to the comics, is a gay man — and many more. The series will also include fan favorites such as Sinestro and Kilowog, and will also introduce new heroes to the ranks of the Green Lantern Corps.”
It may as well be speculated by fans of the iconic superhero that parent company of HBO Max, Warner Bros. that they may be saving John Stewart and Hal Jordan for another Green Lantern movie.
Let’s just hope this one isn’t the giant dumpster fire that was the Ryan Reynolds version of the character.
