One of the major issues of previous generations of consoles from the original PlayStation to the PS3 was the inaccessibility of the player to previously saved games on the newer console. Well, according to Sony, data from saved PS4 games will be accessible in the PS5 via a “wifi data transfer”.
However, no info has been released by Sony with regards to transferring cloud-saved games from the PS4 to the PS5. In the case of digitally downloaded games from the PSN Network will simply be a matter of re-downloading your game library without any hassle. It’s worth noting that in the case of discs, an update may be required for them to be accepted onto the console.
The PS5 UI, which may be shown in the coming weeks will reportedly serve as a central “game hub” from which discs and downloaded games will be accessed. In addition this information, Sony has been quoted as saying:
“the overwhelming majority of the 4,000+ PS4 games are playable on PS5 consoles”.
Despite this statement, Sony also has revealed a 10-item list of games that won’t be backwards compatible to the PS5 and will only be PS4 exclusives. They are:
- Afro Samurai 2 Revenge of Kuma Volume One
- TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge 2
- Just Deal With It!
- Shadow Complex Remastered
- Robinson: The Journey
- We Sing
- Hitman Go: Definitive Edition
- Joe’s Diner
The PS5 is scheduled to be released November 19th as a Standard and Digital edition.
