Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot is teaming up again with director Patty Jenkins for Paramount’s newly acquired historical epic “Cleopatra”. Some movie-goers might remember hearing about a 1963 version of the epic starring Elizabeth Taylor, though it remains to be seen if this would be a direct remake of the movie. If that’s the case then it would probably be cut significantly, seeing as the original was 3 and a half hours long.
Gal Gadot is set to lead the film in the title role of the storied Queen of Egypt. Having worked together on both Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman: 1984 both Gadot and Jenkins have proven creative chemistry and alongside the likes of Laeta Kogridis (Screenwriter for Alita: Battle Angel) and Pilot Waves Motion Pictures Partner Jared Varsano, the film might be one hell of a feature.
Though given the controversy around the supposed skin color of Cleopatra, many fans have brought up the subject of whitewashing, while others have cited academic research stating that she was a fair skinned Greco-Persian and Syrian woman. Seeing as Gadot is of Israeli ancestry, it only adds to the casting controversy.
