Multiple cloud streaming games have been launched via Facebook Gaming browser& app. Facebook reported this in a blog post explaining its goals and expectations with regards to cloud gaming.
Cloud streaming via Facebook is currently supported by 5 games: Mobile Legends: Adventure, Solitaire: Arthur’s Tale, PGA Golf Shootout, WWE SuperCard and Asphalt 9: Legends. Facebook also has plans to release new cloud-streaming games in the future; the first to be released in a few weeks, that being Dirt Bike Unchained.
Beginning next year Facebook will be adding in-app purchases to their cloud streaming games. Facebook seeks to start out with free-to play games considering the free games are the ones that Facebook users are most used to. When they launch officially the games will be playable via mouse, keyboard or touchscreen since they intend to release the games for mobile.
The new gaming experiment will not be available on iOS Apple devices yet. “While our iOS path is uncertain, one thing is clear. Apple treats games differently and continues to exert control over a very precious resource.” The experiment will instead begin o Android devices and the internet.
The games will only be available in certain parts of the U.S. such as Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Washington State, D.C., Massachusetts, Texas, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Delaware and Virginia with plans to expand across the country.
Even though they believe in the potential of cloud streaming games, Facebook isn’t promising any upcoming breakthroughs, or will it come up with it’s own gaming hardware.
