According to a report from The Financial Times, following the investigations into Apple’s conduct with regards to the legal standing of its deals with Google, Apple is under increasing pressure to launch its own search engine.
If the current anti-trust lawsuits tip against the tech giant, it will necessitate that Apple will need to construct & launch its own search engine. The purpose of which is to break down Google’s monopolistic hold on the market and prevent the abuse of it.
It was reported last week that an anti-trust lawsuit has been filed by the U.S. D.O.J against the search engine for “anti-competitive behavior”. This was primarily in reference to the $8-$12 billion USD per year deal between Google & Apple making the search engine the default on all iPhones.
Apple’s own search engine “AppleBot” as f the latest iOS14 software update has been made the primary search engine as opposed to Google. This suggests that the once dormant search engine is scouring for data to grow & develop.
Even though the internal workings of Apple are top secret, growing evidence suggests that based on its recent acquisition of Google’s head of search in addition to some of its engineers a few years ago, Apple is prioritizing AppleBot for future projects.
Given that the projected annual profits for this year are expected to surpass $55 billion with a net cash reserve of $81 billion, Apple can very much afford o spend its time on the search engine.
