The upcoming movie, Songbird, a pandemic-inspired thriller from director Michael Bay has just been released.
Featuring a distorted version of “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright” by Bob Marley, the trailer showcases a world destroyed by the deadly “COVID-23” virus. The film was shot during the course of the pandemic & features in themes that allude to the real world pandemic that we are currently experiencing. The difference being that in the movie, quarantine has been enacted and the world was under lockdown for a total of 4 years. In comparison, our situation isn’t that bad.
The film focuses on a couple played by K.J. Apa and Sofia Carson who are unable to see each other due to the lockdown. When Carson’s character becomes under government suspicion of contracting the virus, Apa’s character will go through hell to save her.
Apa touched on the production’s COVID-19 protocols which thy were forced to abide by in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly: “It was strange, ” Apa said. “I haven’t really done a project where I have spent so little time with my costar, but it really worked for the movie.”
Songbird was inspired not only by th present pandemic, but also found footage movies such as Cloverfeild, The Blair Witch Project & Paranormal Activity. Other cast members include, Alexandra Daddario, Craig Robinson, Paul Walter Hauser, Peter Stormare and Bradley Whitford.
