Tesla has made the decision to piggy back off of April Fools joke with its newest forward thinking innovation: “Teslaquila”. The idea for the newly released Tesla Tequila comes from a dad joke posted by Elon Musk on April Fools Day in 2018.
Elon was found passed out against a Tesla Model 3, surrounded by “Teslaquilla” bottles, the tracks of dried tears still visible on his cheeks.
This is not a forward-looking statement, because, obviously, what’s the point?

That being said, the joke is now a reality selling at $250 a bottle. Though there may be some confusion with regards to what kind of message linking cars with alcohol might be sending. As of Thursday the car company has made it known that the Teslaquila is now available and ready to order on their website with an offering of “an exclusive, small-batch premium 100 percent de agave tequila añejo.”
The Tequila will be available in a lightning shaped bottle (naturally) and is produced by Southern California spirits brand Nosotros Tequila. The original joke came following Tesla’s 2018 bankruptcy. The company even filed for a trademark on the word Teslaquila.
The Tequila is reported to have been sold-out within hours of its release. Deliveries will be scheduled for later in the year.
