As of yesterday it was announced by Apple that they will be requiring apps that get downloaded via Apple’s app store to provide information about what is collected by the app and how the data will be used. App developers will need to abide by this privacy “nutrition label” policy starting December 8th. This update to Apple’s privacy practices is intended to acquaint users with the practices of the apps they download in addition to any 3rd party partners.
Any and all data collected will be identified and watched over by app developers via a series of prompts with the expectation that the responses are kept up-to-date throughout the existence of the app.
Data that is not shared with a data broker, linked with 3rd party data used for advertizing or used for tracking can be withheld and does not need to be disclosed.
