Infamous rapper Kanye West has found himself in legal trouble (again). As of this week, Yeezy was named in a class action suit over up to $1 million USD in unpaid wages for his 2019 Nebuchadnezzar opera performance.
Legal documents acquired Live Nation in addition to West, are being sued by workers who assisted West in his 2019 Hollywood bowl live-performance. Yeezy neglected to pay a multitude of people who worked on the performance “including the background actors, performing as audience members,” Additionally: “defendants oversaw, controlled and ran the production, and the aggrieved employees worked many hours on the production and were not timely paid for their work, or paid at all.”
Nebuchadnezzar, Yeezy’s biblical opera first premiered at this time last year and was directed by frequent collaborator Vanessa Beecroft showcasing original music. The performance received an outstandingly positive response. Kanye’s legal team, nor West himself have responded to the lawsuit.
