For those of us who love going to movie theaters, it may come as a relief that movie theater stocks had a jump this morning. The announcement was in regards to news of a 90% effective Coronavirus cure. This news may have shined a brighter light on the prospect of going to the movies and sitting in the dark where god knows what occurred and by god knows who’s hand while watching god knows what.
Back in mid-October, investors were warned that the theater business may lose all of its capital by 2021. The events were changed today when shares on AMC rose by 80% at $4.45 USD. Shares in both Cinemark, as well as Disney also increased by 40% and 10% respectively.
Meanwhile the theaters of Cineworld & Regal are still closed in the U.S. & U.K. And in spite of AMC’s deal with Universal to share digitally accumulated revenue & shorten the theater window, the upcoming blockbusters such as No Time To Die, Back Widow & Dune are still pushed back to next year.
