After the loss of Johnny Depp’s libel suit & subsequent removal from the role of Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts franchise, it’s been announced that he’ll be paid in full due to his “pay-or-play” contract. Many popular actors sign on to a project using that sort of contract, which obliges studios to pay the actors full salary in spite of what happens to the movie itself.
That being said, since Depp had already shot a scene for the movie prior to his unjustifiable and frankly hypocritical “resignation” he’ll still be getting paid for the project, regardless of how many scenes he shot for the film. That being said, Warner Bros. is definitely taking an ‘L’ on this considering Depp’s pay is upwards of 8 figures.
I guess Depp will be getting the last laugh after all. Good for him.
