According to sources, rapper Lil Wayne is facing a federal weapons charge due to a connection to a 2019 December plane search down in Florida.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the charges had been reported via the US Attorney for Florida’s Southern District and include 1 count of possession of a firearm & ammunition by a convicted felon. If Weezy is convicted he could potentially be facing a decade in prison. His appearance in court is scheduled for December.
At the time of the plane search that took place prior to its final stop n California, police in Miami-Dade county, were acting on “a tip about weapons and marijuana.” Prior to the search, federal agents were called and were asked to obtain a search warrant in order to examine the private-plane at th Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport.
Howard Srebnick, Lil Wayne’s attorney explained via a statement that the rapper was charged for “possessing a gold-plated handgun” inside of his luggage while on the plane. He emphasized the fact being that there’s “no allegation that he is a dangerous person.”
