With the holiday season only a few weeks away, Coca-Cola is inspiring the Christmas spirit via a new commercial from director Taika Waititi.
In this 2.5 minute commercial, the Jojo Rabbit and Thor Ragnarok director showcases the wholesome feelings of joy when a family makes it home for the holidays. t also follows the story of a father seeking to deliver his daughter’s letter to Santa, the annual spokesman for the popular soft-drink brand since 1931. Following the motor on his inflatable boat failing, the dad sets out on an epic adventure showcasing the lengths we would al go for the sake of family.
When the dad hits a roadblock near the end, the quest takes a negative turn. Santa does make an appearance with a joy inspiring tear-jerker ending. The story will probably seem relatable with all the travel restrictions in place due to the pandemic.
The Coca-Cola Company had this to say: “This Christmas, give something only you can give. Be it in person, over an awkward video call, or just a quick message, making time for the ones you love is what makes Christmas truly the most special time of year, no matter how you do it.”
