Following the acquisition of 20th Century Fox by Disney, many properties under the Marvel Comics umbrella such as X-Men and the Fantastic 4 have been returned to Marvel Studios, though that also includes the infamous Merc With A Mouth, Deadpool. The upcoming 3rd installment in the Deadpool series, which will be the first since the acquisition, will have Ryan Reynolds returning to the role alongside some new writers to be penning the script.
According to sources, the Bob’s Burgers writers Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin have signed on to the project. Alongside working on Bob’s Burgers, the sisters will also act as the showrunners for Dan Harmon’s upcoming series The Great North, coming to Fox in February.

Currently the film has yet to find a director, though despite this, it still comes as a relief to fans of the beloved anti-hero who have been worried that the series would be thrown out due to the family friendly nature of Disney. Sources say that any new installments to the Deadpool series will carry an R rating and may have some oversight from previous directors that worked on the series. Sadly Deadpool 2 director David Leitch has a booked schedule through to next year. Despite this, Hollywood may give him enough time to work on the project due to Coronavirus delays.
The Deadpool actor himself expressed his enthusiasm for the chance to annoy the entirety of the MCU saying: “If Deadpool were to be in the MCU, what a sandbox to play in,” said Reynolds. “There’s a lot more story to tell.”
