Even though the studio hasn’t made the decision what to do with the character of T’Challa for Black Panther 2, Marvel is still moving forward with production anyway.
With Chadwick Boseman now deceased and by extension no longer in the title role of Black Panther, there’s been much speculation as to how Marvel Studios may proceed, though according to sources filming for Black Panther 2 will start filming in Atlanta Georgia in July of next year lasting up to 6-months with Ryan Coogler as the director.
“Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke and Angela Bassett are expected to return for the new feature, with some saying Wright’s character may take on a more prominent role,” according to THR.
Many fans following Boseman’s death have campaigned for T’Challa’s genius little sister Shuri, played by Letitia Wright to take on the role of Black Panther same as in the Marvel comics. It has also been reported that Sin Nombre and Narcos: Mexico actor Tenoch Huerta has been cast in the role of an unspecified villain.
Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, while still maintaining his involvement in the movie, however is turning his attention primarily to the several upcoming Marvel series that are making their way to Disney+ over the next year.
