Following the moves from eBay last year to get rid of seller fees alongside building partnerships with Stadium Goods for in-demand releases. With all that in place, eBay is setting out to build an Authenticity Guarantee program for shoe retailers on the e-commerce site. eBay makes the claim that they sell a pair of Sneakers every 1.5 seconds and its decision to offer multi-point inspections for $100 USD+ for sneakers both neo or pre-owned, that timing might actually decrease.
The eligible sneakers will be identified using a blue check mark badge. Following the purchase, the sneakers get shipped to an eBay authentication partner who vets, inspects and verifies each pair through an industry expert. When the authenticator receives the sneakers they confirm that the sneakers are consistent with images, listing title and description, followed by a multi-point physical inspection. Then a tag that guarantees the sneaker’s authenticity is attached to complete the process, increase customer confidence as well as resale value and collectibility. Following the inspection, if it proves authentic the buyer will receive the sneakers with a secure 3-day delivery with signature confirmation for sneakers costing more than $750 USD.
The starting launch will be covering all new condition YEEZY and Jordan buys over $200 USD+ and will increase to feature all collectible sneaker sales for $100 USD+ by the beginning part of 2021. You can check out more about the function on eBay’s website
