Like with most comedians such as Bill Burr, Kevin Hart has generated controversy via his Netflix Stand-Up Special “Zero F***s Given”.
As of Saturday, following when Hart made an appearance on the audio-based social media platform, Clubhouse, h has been accused of being disrespectful of black women and deliberately making misogynistic jokes. During the routine, the comedian was called out for calling his 15-year old daughter a “Hoe” based on her interest in multiple boys.
Hart was quoted as saying in Zero F***s Given: “A week goes by, ‘Dad, I don’t like Rob no more.’ I like this boy named Tim,'” Hart said. “Instantly, in my mind, I said, ‘My daughter a hoe. This is hoe shit. This is hoe shit. Hoe activity right in front of my face.'”
Many different women that frequent Clubhouse subsequently deemed Hart’s words for being “Sexist”. Hart then defended his words and pointed the finger at the critics’ motives that they only wanted to see him fail. Hart made reference to the 2014 stand-up special from Hannibal Buress in which Buress called Bill Cosby a rapist. This led many critics to come to the conclusion that Hart was defending Cosby having said that Buress brought Cosby “down”.
Following this, Hart posted a video on Instagram explaining the origins of the joke and explained he never called his daughter a “hoe”:
“We gotta stop. Stop with the false narrative, it’s a false narrative that’s being created,” said the comedian. “If you were in the Clubhouse and a part of the conversation, this wasn’t about Black women. It wasn’t about me going against Black. The question was asked about the joke about my daughter and me referencing my daughter having hoe-like activity. I gave an answer to it. Here’s what it is, guys: I’m not calling my daughter a hoe, I’m saying what she did is hoe-like activity.”
He followed with: “I called three former hoes I know and asked them, ‘Is this hoe-like activity?’ … Stop with the false narratives and the click bait and the back-and-forth.”
