Prior to the draw between Roy Jones Jr. and Iron Mike Tyson, the YouTube celebrity Jake Paul defeated the former NBA player Nate Robinson following a brutal 2nd round.
Prior to the final blow in the 2nd round, Robinson was floored twice and was in need of medical assistance following the fight as he just laid there not moving at all hitting the canvas face first.
Amanda Serrano, who is a 7 time world champion spoke out against “celebrity boxing” matches warning that either party may potentially be “really hurt” during the match. Serrano was quoted as saying: “Boxing is a serious game. Nothing to be doing for YouTube likes,” Said Serrano. “Most amateurs turning pro fight four rounds, these guys are debuting in a six-rounder. Someone’s going to get really hurt one day. Not cool at all.”
Jake Paul who debut into the sport following in his brother Logan’s footsteps who managed to take on KSI back in 2019. The nature of these fights have led to much controversy and raised eyebrows as well as concerns.
Teddy Atlas, the former trainer of boxer Mike Tyson posted on twitter saying: “I don’t care about athletes or not, stop allowing guys who don’t know how to fight into a ring. Paul has actually trained to fight. Awful. Why have a California commission if they allow this.”
After Jake Paul’s victory over Robinson, he challenged UFC’s Conor McGregor saying that he would knock out the Irish boxer.
