According to sources, Elon Musk, the CEO of electric vehicle producer Tesla, has alluded to a possible hatchback model intended to capture the European market.
Presently, Tesla manufactures a wide range of various vehicle categories that spread across sedans such as the Model 3 and Model S all the way to SUV’s such as the X and Y Models in addition to Tesla’s upcoming Cybertruck pick-up truck. Still, a giant hole exists when it comes to the more minimalist & space-oriented choices such as the hatchback. Musk, while giving a speech at a German conference on batteries, noted that there may be a possible market for a Tesla hatchback in future days since he took notice of how tight parking can be in Europe.
Musk mad this statement on Tuesday: “Possibly in Europe it would make sense to do, I guess, a compact car, perhaps a hatchback or something like that,” The Tesla CEO said. “In the U.S., the cars tend to be bigger for personal taste reasons. In Europe, [they] tend to be smaller.” Musk also explained the experience he had trying to find parking while driving around in a larger Tesla model over in Berlin: “I was driving a Model X around Berlin and we had quite a bit of trouble finding a parking space where we could fit.”
