Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker is reportedly working on a mockumentary about the events that unfolded during 2020 for Netflix.
The information comes from an interview conducted by Vulture with actor Hugh Grant where he stated that he’ll have a role in the latest project from Brooker. “Charlie Brooker [the creator of Black Mirror] has written a mockumentary about 2020,” said Grant. “It’s for Netflix, and I am a historian who’s being interviewed about the year. I’m pretty repellent, actually! And you’ll like my wig.”
The Black Mirror series has caused a great deal of conversations, as it takes a dark look at the future of technology that will affect our everyday lives. Considering that 2020 is an LSD charged dumpster fire nightmare (and it smells that way too) it will certainly put Brooker in a position where he thrives most.
Even though Brooker is best known around the world for Black Mirror, he was known primarily in the U.K. for his end-of-year round-up series called the “Wipe” shows for the BBC, running from 2010-2016. This series took a look at the year’s highlights, looking primarily at the worst events that occurred in that year. Earlier this year Brooker unveiled a version of the show called “Antiviral Wipe” which centered around the Coronavirus Pandemic.
