California man Frank Herbert has reportedly been arrested for breaking into J.J. Abrams film-company Bad Robot Productions and attempting to steal Star Wars memorabilia.
According to sources the items he intended to steal were onscreen helmets of a Stormtrooper and Darth Vader. The 38 year old was subsequently brought into police custody. Upon arrival the police were led by security to surveillance footage showing Frank Herbert entering the building from the roof, prior to casually walking away from the scene with several objects of interest in a shopping cart.
The thief was found only a short distance from Bad Robot and was seen pushing the cart down the street. It was confirmed by Santa Monica PD that the items found with Herbert included original on screen Star Wars props that were discovered having been buried under a pile of Star Wars themed pillows.
Herbert has been taken into police custody and is facing charges of felony non-residential burglary. If found guilty of the charges Herbert will wind up facing many years in prison. Following the arrest, police returned the props back to Bad Robot.
