The divorce between singer Kelly Clarkson and her now ex-husband Brandon Blackstock was inevitably going to make a mess as is normal with celebrity divorces though Blackstock is making waves with his recent request of Clarkson. According to court documents filed by attorneys, Blackthorn is seeking close to half a million dollars per month from the singer.
Sources say that Blackthorn’s request consists of $135K USD for child support, with an additional $301K USD for spousal support. That totals up to $435K USD which is roughly $5.2 million USD per year coming from Clarkson. Additionally, he is also asking the American Idol champion to cover his attorney fees totaling to $2 million USD.
It also is offensive that Blackstock wouldn’t need to receive child-support due to the fact that he isn’t going to be the primary caregiver of their 2 kids. Clarkson was previously awarded with primary custody over their kids, with the exception of 1 weekend per month for when the kids would be going to Blackstock’s ranch in Montana Balckthorn would also be able to get 2 weekends per month provided he heads over to Clarkson’s L.A. hometown for those weekends. The judges came to the decision that the family’s primary residence is in California.
“The court finds that the minor children are not now and have not been residents of Montana and that California is their home state,” said the judges. If we learned anything from the divorce hearing between Dr. Dre and his ex-wife, claims as outrageous as these for “necessities” probably won’t rule in favor of the frankly, ballsy requests from the ex-spouse of a celebrity.
