Zaha Hadid Architects has been requested by China’s Shenzhen in order to build the newest science &tech museum in the county’s Guangming Science City leading to the designing of a structure that seeks out “solidity and dynamic curvilinear geometries” with urban circulation routes central to the museum’s inspiration.
The new museum forms part of the World Science City and will serve as a connection to a myriad of schools, universities and various different institutions bringing Shenzhen to the center of the technological innovation sector in China. The design features a U-shape with the inclusion of an atrium courtyard at the very center encompassed by a vast number of educational & public areas for galleries, exhibitions and more spreading over 125,000 sq ft.
The design extends its style from the inside out with the structure flowing into the atrium and its surroundings, camouflaged by the natural Guangming Park landscapes. Energy performance, wind flow, air quality and natural light are central to the building’s construction and is being built with the goal of acting as a sustainable model that can serve as the foundations of future construction projects.
The museum is expected to be complete by the year 2023.
