Pete Davidson is under fire from Staten Island activist John Tabacco (though not by name) during a press conference on Monday concerning State Island bar owner Danny Presti who was arrested and subsequently released after he allegedly reopened his bar in spite of mandatory Coronavirus protocols being enforced in addition to allegedly hitting a deputy with his car.
Tabacco referenced a bit on Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update that “The King Of Staten Island” appeared on to call out the Staten Island protestors who Davidson said were making Staten Islanders “look like babies” over the protests that go against the closures of bars such as Mac’s Public House which is also co-owned by Presti.
You can see Tabacco’s comments broadcast on Monday, which outline that Davidson threw Staten Island under the bus for the sake of getting a few laughs at the borough’s expense. Tabacco Also made the claim that he was a personal friend of Davidson’s father Scott who as any Pete Davidson fan knows, was an NYC firefighter that died during the 9/11 terror attacks.
“The King of Staten Island’s dad was a proud fireman and a great friend of mine, and I saw Staten Islanders heavily come out and support him [Davidson], his mom, his family and everyone else in a time of need after 9/11, when I cried for his father,” said Tabacco.
“When I heard stuff like this, it hits me emotionally. If you came out of your perch in your affluent neighborhood and came down here and told the liberal left, ‘This is a good thing because it’s about our freedom and liberty,’ we probably wouldn’t be standing here today talking about a political prisoner [Presti] who was the victim of, in my view, a political ambush.”
Tabacco may have also taken a jab at Weekend Update anchor Colin Jost who is also from Staten Island.
“Instead of coming down here as fellow Staten Islanders and standing up for them and bringing a positive light to this thing, what they want to do is go on national TV and try to humiliate the little man when he’s down,” Tabacco continued. “And to me that’s quite disgusting.”
