After a great deal of speculation and rumors it’s finally been confirmed that Alfred Molina, best known by fans as Doctor Otto Octavius in the 2004 movie Spider-Man 2, will be reprising his role after a full 16 years.
Sources report that Molina will be going against Tom Holland’s Spider-Man who is 2 Spider-Men removed from the Tobey Maguire version of the wall-crawler. The confirmation of the 67 year-old English Actor to his former role only serves as further proof of the Spider-verse theory that was originally proposed upon Jamie Foxx’s confirmation that he would be reprising the role of Electro for the upcoming Spider-Man sequel.
Between now and when Spider-Man 2 first premiered, the tides have changed for the realm of the Spider-Man franchise Sony and Marvel Studios came to an agreement in order to keep Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The 3rd installment in the stand-alone Tom Holland movie will be directed by Jon Watts who had directed the previous 2 installments, in addition to including Benedict Cumberbatch reprising his role as Doctor Strange, Jamie Foxx reprising his role as electro from the Andrew Garfield Spider-Man movis and will also be bringing back Marisa Tomei, Zendaya, Tony Revolori and Jacob Batalon.
The Spider-Man 3 starring Tom Holland is currently in production and is scheduled for a release date of December 21st 2021.
