The infamous rockstar and frontman of the Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl in addition to producer Greg Kurstin have just released a cover of Drake’s “Hotline Bling”.
The track, which comes in at 4 minutes has Kurstin covering the synths as Grohl takes the drums and lead vocals in addition to providing dance moves accompanying the infectious tune. This also marks the second drop from both artists during their Hanukah Sessions, which acts as a celebration of one Jewish artist for each day of Hanukah. For those not in the know, Drake’s mother is Jewish with Drizzy’s announcement of this back in 2012 that he is “a proud Jewish boy”.
The music video director Derrick G, when being interviews by “HYFR” had this to say “When I had a Bar Mitzvah back in the day, my mom really didn’t have that much money. We kinda just did it in the basement of an Italian restaurant, which I guess is kinda like a faux pas.” he continued by saying: “I told myself that if I ever got rich, I’d throw myself a re-Bar Mitzvah. That’s the concept for the video.”
The acclaimed 2015 single “Hotline Bling” acted as the lead single, in addition to a bonus song from Drizzy’s 4th studio album “Views”. The song landed the #2 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and got the former Degrassi star 2 Grammy awards for Best Rap Song & Best Rap/Sung Performance back in 2017.
