Nielsen, a media data measuring giant has just made an announcement that Netflix streams will be included in their TV ratings metrics starting in 2021.
Currently, Nielsen only measures its data using traditional methods utilizing forms such as cable broadcasting and terrestrial though it is now recognizing the major importance of streaming data in addition to the demand put on by advertizing outlets.
Its speculated that Nielsen will be abandoning its old measurement system and be redirecting its focus on combining the digital viewing data with its traditional measurements by 2024. This redirect will also transform the way both digital streaming services and traditional media adverizes its products.
