According to reports, the newly released Cyberpunk 2077 has just set a new record for the highest number of simultaneous players in a single-player game. The record is set for 1,054,388 on Steam, surpassing what was its peak on December 10th when the number was 1,003,262 following Cyberpunk 2077’s launch.
This new record is more than double the record set by the 2015 game Fallout 4 which only reached 472,962 players. Even though this is already a lot of players, it doesn’t say anything about players who were on the game on Epic Games, GeForce Now, Gog, Stadia and consoles. Currently the player count of Cyberpunk 2077 has been maxing out the payer counts of other games such as Pub-G, Counter-Strike and Dota-2, and reached popularity levels so high that Steam briefly crashed following the game’s launch. CD Projekt Red took to Twitter to say “Wow. The hype is real” as a response.
