It’s official, even though the Charizard on Goldin Auctions’ site didn’t reach the half-million USD mark, it did however break the record initially set by Logic earlier this year at $226,000 USD.
The Charizard card sold for an outstanding $369,000 USD, that being said, the auction price for the first edition pristine 10 card currently holds the record for the most expensive Pokémon card sold at auction this eclipses the 1-of-39 Pikachu Illustrator Card. This sale also highlights the fact that the Charizard obsession has no intentions of stopping anytime soon in addition to having an additional sale through eBay’s PWCC that also surpassed the $300,000 USD threshold. The card sold at auction was formerly owned by a collector who originally bought it in 2009 for $700 USD and subsequently put it up for auction a few days ago for $350,000 USD. The collector purchased the card for the purpose of nostalgia in order to relive his childhood without regard for the card’s future value.
