The upcoming Zack Snyder Cut of the Justice League may possibly be coming to theaters carrying an R rating.
According to an interview with Snyder via EW, the director stated that the possibility of The Justice League Snyder Cut getting an R rating seems highly likely saying: . “Here’s one piece of information nobody knows: The movie is insane and so epic and is probably rated R — that’s one thing I think will happen, that it will be an R-rated version, for sure,” he continued with: “We haven’t heard from the MPAA, but that’s my gut.”
It was also announced by Snyder that the purpose of the R-rating is that: “There’s one scene where Batman drops an F-bomb. Cyborg is not too happy with what’s going on with his life before he meets the Justice League, and he tends to speak his mind. And Steppenwolf is pretty much just hacking people in half. So [the rating would be due to] violence and profanity, probably both.”
There’s still no clear cut details on whether or not Justice League The Snyder Cut will be receiving a theatrical release, though the Snyder Cut will be coming to HBO Max in 2021. Snyder also revealed that he would prefer for The Snyder to get both a theatrical and HBO Max release saying: , ”I’m a huge fan and a big supporter of the cinematic experience, and we’re already talking about Justice League playing theatrically at the same time it’s coming to HBO Max.”
