Jil Sander, over the course of its 44-year history has been acquisitioned by a few different fashion houses. In 1999 it was sold to Prada, in 2006 it was sold to Change Capital Partners in London, and then in 2008 it was bought by Onward Holdings Co. Ltd based in Tokyo. As of now Jil Sander has changed hands again, this time it’s the Italian fashion house OTB, which is also in possession of labels such as Maison, Diesel, Margiela and Marni.
OTB has, over the course of its history has built a diversified portfolio with Renzo Rosso holding the reigns. This new acquisition will broaden the horizons of OTB in the present-day fashion market as it seeks to grow its business to a higher level. Sources say that OTB has been developing new ways to build the operations & products in a way that is more sustainable, in which case this acquisition of Jil Sander may simply add and improve that strategy. There is little if any more information on the reported acquisition.
