Back in October, Apple chose to release its iPhone 12 without earphones or a charger since the iPhone series’ creation back in 2007 based on environmental concerns. Now following the lead of Apple and for the sake of environmental safety is Samsung.
According to sources, it has been speculated that Samsung would be leaving out a charger & earphones for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S21 series for a while now. The rumors spanned all over the S21, S21+ and the S21 Ultra, though it was only confirmed via new filings in Brazil. The filing, which grants permission to all 3 of the S21 models to be sold in Brazil, says in Portuguese that none of these models will include earphones or a charger. Even though Samsung has yet to make the announcement, it’s highly probable that Samsung will also use the new approach to product releases, set by Apple.
It is also worth saying that the Korean tech giant may be entering hot water with regulatory organizations that are equally being faced by Apple with regards to this new decision to alter their product’s release. In São Paulo, Brazil it was decided that in spite of Apple’s justification, the charger is considered an essential component for use of the phone. That being said, Apple’s removal of the charger was considered a violation of Brazil’s Consumer Defense Code. If Apple is getting reprimanded for this decision, Samsung is no different.
