Primavera Sound Festival, following the cancelation of their 2020 event as a result of COVID-19 has successfully conducted a trial Coronavirus-safe event in Barcelona, Spain over last weekend.
The event was titled PRIMACOV and was held at a 1,600 Sala Apolo and bought in 1,042 patrons to test out the music from local DJs. The event used rapid COVID-19 screening tests that provide results in 15 minutes. Prior to entry each attendee needed to test negative.
PRIMACOV said via a press release that the goal of this trial was “to validate these kinds of tests as an extremely useful tool to be able to carry out any type of event, whether musical or not, without social distancing.” This report comes following the announcement that London’s 100 Club is heading up a new ventilation system in January that is designed to protect against 99.99% of airborne COVID-19 pathogens.
