A Honus Wagner baseball card aka the “Holy Grail” of baseball cards has just sold at auction for a grand total of $3.7 million USD to athe Real Estate Mogul Kurt Rappaport.
The Honus Wagner 1909-11 T206 card only has 60 versions ever made and when someone takes into account the fact that the Honus Wagner card is more than 100 years old you can really let the card’s scarcity set in. The card sold at auction was rated at PSA 3 with only 4 other versions of the shortstop grading higher. It was explained by Rappaport that “The 50 or 60 that exist in the world, this is one of the Top 5. There’s only 4 other cards that have graded any higher than this. These don’t come up to sale and I had the opportunity to buy it and I did.”
The card now places second behind the record-shattering sale of an autographed Mike Trout Rookie card that sold back in August for $3.9 million in August.
