Even though Cyberpunk 2077 had a controversial and obstacle ridden release earlier this month, developer CD Projekt Red has been able to sell over 13 million copies of the game.
According to a statement made by CD Projekt Red, the figures stated are comprised of sales of copies spanning over all different hardware platforms. Due to CD Projekt Red’s promise that Cyberpunk 2077 would be running smoothly in previous gen consoles a total of 8 million pre-orders alone, though with the choice of Sony to pull the game from the PlayStation 4 store brought that promise into question.
The 13 million number stated leaves out the refunded purchases made by players via email as a part of its recent “Help Me Refund” campaign. Currently Cyberpunk 2077 has yet to reach the top 50 best selling games of all time list as the minimum amount is 19 million and the number reported in total was 13 million, though it is likely that sales of the game will continue to rise as more patches to the game come forth in the near future, in addition to more copies of the game for the next-gen consoles when they become more available. Cyberpunk 2077 follows behind another hit from CD Projekt Red, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt that sold a total of 28 million copies.
