According to reports, Bobby Shmurda has the chance to be potentially released from prison this February due to good behavior.
The Time Allowance Committee, which is made up of prison staff, although not the parole board brought Shmurda’s “behavior and participation in prison programs” and came to the conclusion that he is a potential candidate for conditional release on Feb 23rd, 2021 which is a full 10 months prior to his max sentence of Dec. 11th. Although, in order to remain eligible Shmurda needs to avoid facing any more disciplinary actions until Feb 23rd. If Shmurda does see an early release, he will be serving the rest of his sentence on parole.
Originally, back in September 2020, Shmurda was denied parole and many are under the impression that his many contraband violations are being factored in to the parole board’s decision to deny the early release. Though as his parole hearing progressed, Shmurda stated that he didn’t request or ask for the “sharpened metal object in a glove balloon” saying, “somebody just gave it to me, but I came in — like, they gave me the rules of the place, like you’re going to need this just in case of this and that.” Shmurda commented that Rikers Island Prison is “just a crazy place,” and that “I feel like I start trying to learn how to defend myself and try to learn how not to get in trouble, but I came to Rikers, it was so crazy weird.”
