Kevin Feige, the current President of Marvel Studios has given a first look into the plans that Marvel has for the upcoming Black Panther 2 after Chadwick Boseman’s ill-timed passing.
In December of 2020, Fiege gave confirmation that Boseman’s role of T’Challa will be neither recast or be given a CGI double, although production for Black Panther 2 has no intentions of slowing down. Feige stated that the Black Panther Sequel will be bringing in a series of new characters and various other regions of Wakanda seen in the comics: “Wakanda is a place to further explore with characters and different subcultures. This was always, and initially, the primary focus of the next story.” As he mentioned that a CGI Chadwck Boseman is out of the question, Feige stated that Black Panther 2 director Ryan Coogler is now developing the script along with a story that explores the Kingdom of Wakanda even more. “There’s also the task of honoring and respecting the ongoing learnings and teachings from Chad as well,” Feige stated.
Black Panther 2 will start its filming process this summer.
