The long awaited sequel to Madvillainy from the late MF DOOM and the still alive Madlib was allegedly “85% done” according to Stones Throw Records founding member Peanut Butter Wolf.
In a recent podcast interview with Pete Rosenberg & Cipha Sounds’s podcast Juan Ep is Dead, it was confirmed by Wolf that MF DOOM was working on the long awaited sequel saying: “DOOM was always telling me ‘It’s 85% done, it’s 85% done.’ That was the magic number,” Said Wolf, saying that MF DOOM sent him 11 songs back in 2009 but he wanted to hold any releases until “a few more songs” were completed.
As Wolf waited, however, lines from the songs would pop up on other people’s albums or leak on the internet and at a certain point he didn’t know what material would actually be featured on Madvillainy 2. “I got a little frustrated,” Wolf stated, “and I was just like, you know, ‘It’s gonna happen when it’s gonna happen.’ I don’t wanna be the guy to force creativity or anything.” Wolf and his team have no clue as to what to do with the songs from MF DOOM, though thy do have approval from MF DOOM’s team & family to bring the material together into a single project.
