Tech giant Sony has officially mad good on their plans on transitioning into the realm of aerial photography/videography via the reveal of their upcoming Airpeak drone.
Seeking to compete with DJI’s drone series the 4-prop Airpeak drone showcases a carbon fiber design featuring 2 large landing skids that elevate when the drone is in flight. Currently, very little information has been released, although from the released footage of the drone, we can see a big head unit that holds extra large batteries, alongside a front-mount camera as well as a bottom gimbal, which is built with a camera from Sony’s Alpha series.
During the testing alongside the Sony VISION-S vehicle, the Airpeak drone highlights a large amount of capability as the drone easily flies through the brisk winter breeze. Although Sony has yet to reveal a price on the Airpeak drone, it is expected to see a Spring 2021 release.
