The Orange County location of Disneyland is set to become the first major Point-of-Dispensing (PID) vaccination site in the state of California as the theme park seeks to reopen its doors since March of 2020.
Disneyland will be venturing to inoculate the Phase 1a citizens of Orange County, which are patients aged 65+, in addition to first responders in high-risk communities. Due to its massive landscape, Disneyland is currently being advertized as a “Super POD” that will assist in providing thousands of vaccinations per day. Dr. Pamela Hymel, the Chief Medical Officer of the Disney Park had this to say: Disneyland Resort is proud to help support Orange County and the City of Anaheim with the use of our property, and we are grateful for all of their efforts to combat COVID-19. After a year in which so many in our community have faced unprecedented hardship and uncertainty, there is now reason for optimism with the administration of a vaccine.” Disneyland is scheduled to start the inoculations later in the week.
