15-Story’ vessel’ structure constructed by Thomas Heatherwich has been closed indefinitely, according to reports. A possible reason behind the closing is the third consecutive suicide in the time-span of one year.
Recently another individual took his life, jumping off the 150-foot tall structure located in Hudson yards. Psychiatrists and counselors are coming into the scene, trying to find the possible reason people commit suicide from this ‘Vessel’ situated in Hudson yards.
Interestingly, Audrey Wachs, a former associate editor shown the concerns relating to the ‘Vessel.’ Back in 2016, Audrey wrote, “As one climbs up Vessel, the railings stay just above waist height all the way up to the structure’s top, but when you build high, folks will jump.” And what followed thereafter indicates, Audrey’s statement is accurate to a certain point.
No official statement is released regarding the reopening of ‘Vessel.’ There is no clarity whether there’ll be any Suicide-preventions structural changes to an otherwise beautiful piece of art.
