HBO Max has moved its roots into its adult animated television series with a Scooby Doo prequel series. The spinoff, entitled ‘Velma’ follows the cult-classic, orange turtle-neck wearing character, Velma Dinkley.
The streaming platform disclosed that Velma would offer “an original and humorous spin that unmasks the complex and colorful past of one of America’s most beloved mystery solvers.” The series executively produced by Mindy Kaling is expected to tell “the origin story of Velma Dinkley, the unsung and underappreciated brains of the Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc. gang.”
Apart from her executive producer role, Kaling will also be doing Voice-over for the character of Velma. With Charlie Grandy and Howard Klein joining her in the Production team, Working with them since The Office’s days.
The current production time-span is still under the wraps, but HBO Max has confirmed a total of 10 episodes for the new Velma series. The release date is expected to be out soon.
