Back in December 2020, Lionel Messi scored his 644th Goal for Spanish-club Barcelona. That goal helped Messi achieve the accolade to be the top goal scorer playing for a single club. Messi dethroned the Football legend Pele by performing this feat.
To mark this achievement, Messi has donated the Adidas boots he wore to broke the record to the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC), where they will be kept as a display for one month. After this exhibition, the record-breaking boots will be auctioned off for charity, gathering funds for the museum’s Art and Health program for children with oncological diseases and their families.
Announcing the Auction news, Messi stated, “Reaching this historic milestone of 644 goals with the same club gives me a lot of joy, but what is really more important is being able to give something back to the kids struggling with their health. We hope the auction in April will raise a lot of awareness for this great cause.”
The Boots of Lionel Messi are placed for display by MNAC; They will be auctioned in April.
