The clubhouse, as the name suggests, is a social platform working on audio-chat. Think expanded Zoom calls mixed with live podcasts, all on topics of the operator’s choice. Listen in to conversations, interviews, and general discussions on various topics based on your interests. Launched in March 2020 by Silicon Valley entrepreneurs Paul Davidson and Rohan Seth, as of May 2020, the platform had just 1,500 users worldwide, yet its worth was a massive $100million.
Earlier this week, the platform’s hype reached new heights after Elon Musk and Kanye West announced their intent to join Clubhouse, with Musk tweeting: “The most entertaining outcome is the most likely.” While not many would like to miss Elon Musk and Kanye West’s conversations, Clubhouse accepts users’ invite-only basis for now.
Unlike other platforms, you can’t simply download the app from the PlayStore and create an account; instead, you need to be invited by an existing user, Clubhouse. If you have connections with people using friends, you’ll be asked to select a topic that drives you the most, including everything from fashion, music, and sports, to fitness, well-being, and politics, which will assist the app in hand-pick conversation rooms that may be of interest to you. Like a Zoom call, while the hosts will be heading specific conversations on various topics, You can also put out your opinion on the subject using the ‘Raise Your Hand’ option.
