Tom & Jerry’s latest live-action film has surprisingly taken the number-one position at the box office in its opening weekend. Back in November, the trailer of this cartoon-action film hinted at a hybrid of live-action-animation effect. With so many expectations, the film has overcome the odds and truly lived up to the hype.
If we focus on the plot, Jerry arrives in a luxurious hotel in New York City just as a high-profile wedding is about to occur. Jerry’s actions alarm the wedding planner, who, in turn, hires Tom to take care of Jerry. What follows next are the Cat and Mouse chaos which we have loved since our childhood. Tom’s pursuit of getting rid of Jerry creates a mess of the entire wedding and hotel.
Earning approximately $13.7 million, it’s a dream start to the movie at this time in the pandemic. The number is astonishing even more, given the movie was also released on HBO Max.
