Korean Pop Band BTS has been awarded as the world’s best-selling recording artist of 2020 by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI).
IFPI, the worldwide music industry representative, made the announcement on Thursday and called the highly popular K-Pop band “omnipresent in 2020. In the process, BTS became the first Korean band to achieve the accolade as well as the first winner to primarily perform in a language other than English.
Featuring seven members, namely: Jin, Suga, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook, the Korean group beat out the likes of Taylor Swift, Drake, and The Weeknd name a few. The results were rolled out based on an artist’s or Band’s worldwide success across digital and physical platforms.
